Can I Call You?
I’m always amazed at the communication technology we possess in this world. Telephones were barely around 100 years ago, and today we can talk through our phones, computers, email, texting, online chat, twitter, facebook, and all sorts of other methods.
For me, the best form of communication with my home buyers is definitely face-to-face. The old tried and true method. Of course, on the front end of the relationship you always want to meet in person to make sure you get along with someone you’re going to trust with a big financial decision.
After the first few meetings, efficiency is high on my priority list, as well as my clients’. Text Messaging, emailing, voicemails - they all play a role in how I can effectively answer questions and communicate with First Time Buyers.
Many times Real Estate Agents have gotten a bad name because of their lack of communication skills and ability to respond to their client’s needs. A lot of times, this is out of pure laziness. But most of the time with Realtors who are actually doing “good work” in the business, they may be busy showing properties with another buyer or in the middle of a closing with their clients.
Don’t assume that just because a Realtor doesn’t pick up the phone right away or respond to your email instantly that they are avoiding you. In fact, the exact opposite is true for me – I want to get back to my buyers asap. Sometimes, that’s just not possible though.
I like to look at it this way: if I was in a meeting or doing business with someone as a customer, would I want their undivided attention at that time, or would I want them always emailing or talking to some other customer? Chances are, I’d want them to pay attention to me while I’m with them.
So, I try to treat people the way I would want to be treated. And that’s to give them my full attention while on “Their Time”. Afterwards, I can respond to other clients and emailing/text/call people all day long.
Next time you try to call or email me, just remember I may be helping someone just like you, and trying to treat them with respect and attention, just as I will when it’s your time. And always – ALWAYS leave me a message. Even if it’s a small issue, just let me know so I can respond accordingly.
Thanks, talk to you later!

I agree with you. It’s critical for realtors to saty in touch with clients and do thier best to make sure they stay in touch with them.
But as you mentioned, it’s not always possible to call someone back or reply to an email right away.
To help us in our office, we implemented an email auto-responder. And even thought the replies are “canned” it still helps people feel like they are getting a response and not talking to a brick wall.
Still, you are 100% right when you say the best way to communicate is face-to-face.
