I know we live in Minnesota, Land of Ten Thousand Ice Rinks, but why would you buy a home in the winter?

Simple: to save money.

If you analyze market trends in the state and metro regions, you’ll find that every year the number of listings on the market drops during the colder months.  But what also drops in the price of homes being sold.

It’s not the most desirable notion to go house hunting in your winter coat and scarves, but if you’re willing to brave the cold you’ll be better off in the wallet!

Again, think of it this way: if everyone is selling and buying homes in the Spring and Summer, there will be more competition and higher prices due to multiple offers.  Why would you want to get lost in the crowd?

There is still a great number of houses for sale during December, January, February and March.  It’s never a bad time to shop, or at least look at houses, so what are you waiting for??  The market won’t get much better than this for a long time.
