There’s been a lot in the news about Government Intervention into the housing market, particularly fighting off the tsunami of foreclosures that have been happening over the past several years.
As a home owner myself, I don’t want to sound unsympathetic to others who are falling on hard times. But I still question some of these tactics that the Federal and State Governments are using to alter the system we’ve had in place for decades.
Could it be that people just got too greedy, and now they have to pay the price? Whatever happened to consequences and learning your lesson?
With so many bailouts to banks, companies, and home-owners alike, it’s difficult to make sense of the situation sometimes.
I guess my wish is that people would find a way to stay in their homes, and that banks would alter their payment plans in order to allow people to pay the mortgage. There’s no easy way out, but when I read this Article on Obama’s Plan to Fight Foreclosures, I’m sort of left scratching my head.
Maybe it was the government’s fault to begin with. Or maybe it’s the lenders, or realtors, or apprasiers fault.
But part of me can’t get past the fact that people knew they couldn’t afford these homes, and yet they signed the paperwork anyway.
I think some of the First Time Buyers from 2000-2005 wish they would have just kept renting – and maybe they should have. After all, not everyone is meant to be a home owner.
