Home Buying Timeline
I often get asked by First Time Home Buyers in Minnesota and other states “How long does it take to buy a house from start to finish?”
It’s really very different from person to person. I have helped some new buyers purchase a house within 2 months of meeting them face to face. Others have taken 9+ months to actually close and move into the property.
My general rule of thumb is to allocate about 4 to 6 months from the time you actually get pre-approved for a mortgage until you will get to move-in to the house. For some people this may seem like a long time, but for others it may seem like a rush.
Since everyone it usually looking for something different in a real estate purchase, it’s hard to give a one-size-fits-all answer. But for the record, I’ve created a short video outlining what will take place from start to finish, and how long it will take to buy your first house.
Don’t wait until the last minute to get started. If anything, get started early and be more prepared to take action when the right time comes.
